Mila 15 years old, 10th grade

  • 2seasons
  • 1best friend
  • 5items per list

The quieter one who notices everything. Mila is 15 and in 10th grade. She notices the little things other people miss, and she still stops to pick up a fallen leaf when Liv is already three blocks ahead. She loves photos, keepsakes, and quiet moments you only realize mattered later.

“Wait, I want to remember this.”

Mila is a made-up character from Daria Helck's books. She doesn't have a real account, and that's on purpose.

What I like

  • Film photos and Polaroids, even the blurry ones
  • Old books with soft paper and an inscription on the first page
  • The window seat at a café when it's raining outside
  • Movie tickets, labels, chestnuts, notes: anything you can glue in
  • Handwritten letters, to her best friend and to herself a year from now
  • The first candlelight of fall
  • Oversized knits, jeans, and light blouses; a dress or a skirt for special occasions
  • Long talks that go on way too long
  • Lists with exactly five items
  • Melodic pop and singer-songwriters with strong lyrics
  • Family traditions, meals together, and old recipes with a story behind them
  • Tomato basil pasta, baked potatoes, and a mild chai latte
  • The moment a pile of loose scraps turns into a journal page that just works
  • Taking pictures of the night sky and wanting to understand how it works

What I don't like

  • Rushing, and being pushed to hurry
  • Blank pages that feel intimidating
  • When everyone talks at once
  • Photos taken only to post them
  • When friends talk about each other instead of to each other
  • Pressure to be perfect, mostly from herself
  • Being underestimated because she's quiet
  • When a day counts as “nothing” just because there's no photo

So Mila

  • Writes the date on the back of every photo
  • Remembers what someone said in March and quotes it in October
  • Thinks first, then talks; sometimes she thinks too long
  • Always has a pen with her, usually two
  • Forgets her tea when she's focused on drawing
  • Says “It's fine” too quickly when she means no, and is working on changing that
  • Can lead a group when the topic fits: first she asks about everyone's strengths, then she hands out tasks
What I want

Good enough. And still more.

Mila wants to create and build something of her own someday. Photography, design, media, her own small business, or something in science: at 15, she doesn't have to decide yet. She knows she's good enough. And she's still allowed to want more. Just not out loud.

In my own words

Wait, I want to remember this.

Mila

I like the dress. And yes, I can still spend a whole day out in it.

Mila

I got that wrong. I'll fix it.

Mila

Of course I'm scared of the presentation. I'm doing it anyway.

Mila

Liv, you have the idea. I have the list. This could work.

This is methe quieter one, creative and thoughtful, with a dry sense of humor that lands surprisingly often with her friends
I lovefilm photos, old books, the window seat at a café, pressed leaves, and anything you can glue into a book

You'll recognize her bylong dark brown waves, hazel eyes, and freckles

And Liv?

Liv is 15, full of ideas, and open to people. She's usually the first one to say, “Come on, let's just do it.” She makes Mila laugh when Mila is overthinking again, and she knows pretty well when her friend doesn't need a big speech.
